Support Khulood Badawi and the rights of Palestinian colleagues working for international agencies

Chers amis,

Khulood Badawi que nous sommes nombreux à connaitre pour l'avoir rencontrée ici et en Palestine est une palestinienne d'Israël militante de Hadash, Ta'ayush et membre de la coalition des femmes pour une paix juste. Elle travaille depuis quelques années à l'ONU- OCHA basée à Jérusalem Est comme chargée de terrain sur la Cisjordanie ce qui lui interdit toute prise de position publique en tant que représentante de OCHA, mais pas d'avoir une vie privée et le droit de s'exprimer sur son réseau privé de Tweeter ou Facebook. La campagne menée contre elle, voir ci-dessous, est scandaleuse et vise à obtenir sa démission tout comme elle vise à faire taire les Palestiniens qui travaillent dans les organisations internationales. Alors que les Israéliens qui ont ce statut s'en servent eux sans complexe, comme plateforme de propagande au service de la politique israélienne. Cette campagne menace la liberté de tous les Palestiniens d'exprimer leurs points de vue, sur l'occupation, la colonisation galopante, l'appropriation de Jérusalem Est, le siège de Gaza... elle utilise des arguments racistes (Khulood est inondée de messages incendiaires et menaçants) OCHA est inondé de demande de démission pour elle et accusant tous les employés palestiniens. Elle vise surtout bien évidemment à faire taire sur ce qui se passe justement à Gaza en ce moment même. Il est très important vu le nombre de messages reçus par Ocha en ce moment contre ses salariés palestiniens demandant qu'ils soient réduits au silence ou chassés que des voix multiples et des messages variés soient reçus par cette organisation afin qu'elle ne cède pas aux pressions exercées et s'appuie sur une véritable campagne de soutien. Les messages peuvent être dans toutes les langues émaner d'individus comme d'organisations et doivent être adressés aux mails et aux liens ci-dessous.

Ne laissons pas réduire au silence les Palestiniens d'OCHA qui font un travail formidable de terrain et d'information sérieuse et si utile pour nous. A vos plumes... Il est important que des rédactions différentes soient adressées ne pas faire de copié collé, mais écrire vos propres messages. Ci-dessous les points à utiliser (en anglais désolée)

The resent attack on Gaza brought another activation of pro-occupation forces, and your help is needed

Among other Palestinians, Khulood Badawi who works for UNOCHA is now under attack

Yesterday Khulood posted a tweet on her private channel, depicting Israel attack on Gaza. The picture which she shared as illustration to this post proved to be from 2006, of a child who got injured from falling, Badawi wasn't aware of the origin of the picture and mistakenly thought that it was appropriate for illustrating her post. However, HonestReporting-right wing pro-Israeli propaganda website opened an organized attack on Badawi, which includes appealing to her superiors in the UN with demands for her immediate dismissal.

In response to this attack we shall also mobilize to support Badawi and the right of our Palestinian colleagues and comrades working for international agencies to express their pain and outrage over the suffering of Palestinian people at the very least on their private social network profiles,

Key messages—Pro-Israel campaigns and pressure are:

- Distracting attention from the killing of civilians, including children in Gaza—

- Part of ongoing attempts to politicize the work of the United Nations in Palestine and to generally frame any information about ongoing crimes by organizations or individuals as propaganda, toward serving Israeli occupation policies.

- Constitute discrimination on the basis of nationality. Had Badawi not been a Palestinian, she would not have been unjustly attacked in such a disproportionate manner.

- Succumbing to pressure by pro-Israel groups, like Honest Reporting, would jeapordize the neutrality and impartiality of UN agencies.

- Badawi did not in any way post information as an UN official and we fully respect her private rights to post information as an ordinary individual. Attempts by racists and occupation-defenders to falsely frame her tweets on the basis of her nationality could potentially place all Palestinian UN staff members at the mercy of occupation defenders.

- Israeli propagandists definitely wish to unjustly twist the situation to turn it from a personal tweet into Palestinians controlling UN reporting! This is unacceptable, unprofessional, untrue and racist.

- UNOCHA channels of reporting are well known to the public so Israel occupation apologists should not lead professional individuals into believing that private tweets constitute reporting on behalf of the UN.
